School Information
Ormondale School is a TK-3 school nestled among the trees in beautiful Portola Valley. Our school prides itself on excellence in teaching and learning. Our students consistently perform above state averages on standardized assessments and the teaching here is of the highest quality.
A hallmark of the instructional program at Ormondale is our focus on Project Based Learning. PBL is practiced at all grade levels with each grade taking on one or more signature projects. Differentiation of instruction can be found at all levels in all curricular areas. Our STEM Lab and Maker's Space is a true treasure at our school and the children make good use of the opportunity to develop their ideas and be creative in how they produce their ideas.
Ormondale prides itself on our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum that is taught at all grade levels by our full time counselor. Each month, a specific life skill is highlighted through the SEL curriculum and is supported daily by classroom teachers. The Principal's Book of the Month also highlights the life skill for each month. We practice PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Skills) throughout the school. Our Ormondale Honors Program helps our students to demonstrate our core values of Responsibility, Respect, Kindness and Safety. Participation in third grade Student Council helps to build leadership skills in our oldest learners.
All of our students take Spanish, Music, Science and Physical Education with specialist teachers credentialed to teach these areas. We provide a tiered system of intervention for learners who need support in the areas of reading, writing and math. Our trained interventionists work collaboratively with classroom teachers to ensure that all of our students have access to the core curriculum with support as needed.
